SARWARAN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TAKE PART IN A DEBATE COMPETITION.

SARWARAN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TAKE PART IN A DEBATE COMPETITION.

On February 7, 2019, grades 6 and 7 students at Sarwaran International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in a debate.

The debate was organized by the SABIS Student Life Organization® (SLO®) Academic Department and the topic was “healthy food vs. junk food”. The students formed two teams that each took one side of the debate. Each team, represented by a team leader, came up with strong arguments to explain their causes, and the team representing healthy food won the debate. The wining team were presented with gifts and the event ended with a group picture.

The debate was a good way to encourage students to think about important issues and to teach them to defend and argue matters that mean something to them. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time sharing their opinion with friends and look forward to the next debate. “We hope to have more successful debates like this again in the future,” said a teacher.
