Sarwaran Students Celebrate Kurdish Flag Day
On December 15 and 17, 2016, students at Sarwaran International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, celebrated Kurdish Flag Day.
On December 15th, 2016, the students and teachers came to school in traditional Kurdish clothes and spent their lunch break decorating the school very big flags. Afterwards, they all sand the Kurdish national anthem as they raised the Kurdish Flag.
In another celebration of Kurdish Flag Day, ten students were invited to visit the Kurdish parliament on December 17th, 2016. These students were the children of Kurdish martyrs.
Celebrating Kurdish Flag Day is an important cultural event at Sarwaran. The organized activities teach students to respect their flag, a symbol of unity. “I am happy that I had the chance to celebrate this day with my classmates and the other students by wearing Kurdish cloth,” said a student.
