Sarwaran Students Plant Trees with Prime Minister
On November 7, 2010, Sarwaran International School took part in a nationwide tree planting project in Erbil. The project is aimed at improving the environment and natural state of Erbil by planting two million trees on the hills of Kaznazan.
Sarwaran students from Grade 3 participated in the ceremony held at the Martyrs Monument and attended by the Prime Minster, the Honorable Dr. Barham Saleh, and the Governor of Erbil, Mr. Nawzad Hadi.
After a speech from the Prime Minister, Sarwaran students were selected to assist Dr. Barham and the governor with the planting of the first two trees. They also sang ‘Color Me Green’, a song about the environment and planting trees. Dr. Barham and other audience members were very impressed to hear the students singing in English and were astonished by their level of English proficiency and discipline.
Dr. Barham, impressed with the students, extended an initiation to the students to visit his office at a later date and thanked them for attending and helping with the tree planning.
